Wishful Wednesday: World Class Paralympian Walks Again

It’s a pretty uncommon story with a happy ending.

Monique van der Vorst, an accomplished paralympian cyclist who won two silver medals at the Beijing Olympics overcame paralysis after an automobile accident. The hitch is that she had been paralyzed since she was 13.

While recovering from the accident, she began to feel sensations in her feet…and now after months of recovery and rehabilitation, she has been able to regain use of her legs.

Doctors can’t explain it, but someone with as much determination as her must’ve somehow willed herself to overcome this obstacle. Regardless of how it happened, it’s still such an inspiration.

On her website, she states that some of her goals include running a marathon and even completing an Ironman triathlon. Here’s hoping we catch some headlines about her soon!
