I love spending my birthday week/weekend in Seattle. I was able to double up with a work trip to also visit my coworkers and friends. I was also able to squeeze in the Hot Chocolate 5K, which meant I was able to hit my 5 year legacy status.
Seattle races have lately been having lots of issues with security staffing. The 15K got cut this year, so everyone was downgraded or transferred. (Even Rock n Roll Seattle was shut down in favor of routing the race in Bellevue!) I think that definitely affected the participant roster. However, I was very excited to see that the course as been re-routed back through downtown again. It’s been awhile since a race has started at the Seattle Center! It went straight to the Seattle Public Library and then wound back again.
The weather was perfect. Unfortunately I was at the end of my TWW and it turned out that my FET had failed. My third one. I was really sad. I kind of just knew that it had failed in the absence of testing. My injection sites were still bleeding during the race, especially since I was on blood thinners. The run was a nice distraction for sure.
