There is no greater beauty than the fall season in Colorado. Every year my husband drives me all over the state in search for fall foliage. I dutifully save up my PTO and hope that everyone is patient with me as I take off random weekends at the last minute in search of those blazing colors.
This year I was less prepared than usual. I followed some great leads that took me all over: Rocky Mountain National Park, Grand Lake, Aspen, and finally…Twin Lakes, Colorado. A tip specifically to the Interlaken Trailhead right at Twin Lakes. The post originally said that it was past peak, but when I showed up, I couldn’t figure out how it was past peak. The golden leaves were lighting up the beautiful scenery and of course, made for lovely photos. I opted out of any major hiking since I had a half marathon the following day. Even despite my short visit, I left awestruck and inspired.
I hope to return to this trail in the summer sometime so that I can experience both the Colorado Trail and the Continental Divide Trail. Both are on my lists of things to do here in Colorado.
