It is July, which means that Dopey training has commenced. I spent the week reacquainting myself with my gym membership after many many days/weeks of traveling (approx 31 days of travel in 42). I have only ran 86.9 miles this year prior to week 1 training, and 48.6 miles of that included Dopey in January. That’s roughly 9 miles a month for 4 months…big yikes!
Running and training was a bit labored this week, but that is to be expected.




Being on sabbatical means that I am still trying to find a schedule rhythm between working on my portfolio, traveling to see friends/family, getting time to train, and planning for my upcoming semester. Overall, spirits are up. I’m trying to make attainable goals.
My training goals this season:
- Complete my weekly maintenance runs at 2% incline
- Complete all time on feet for race simulations
- 1 strength training class per week
- 2 timed “magic” miles a month
- 1 reflective blog post a week
My race goals this season:
- Finish ahead of the balloon ladies 😬
- Do not have an emotional meltdown on the way to and from Animal Kingdom
- Do not have an emotional meltdown in the Blizzard Beach parking lot
- Get a marathon finish line photo with another snack in hand
